Recently Jim Johnson and Hans Mulder spoke at the10th International Multi-Conference on International Institute of Informatics and Systemics (IIIS) Conference in Orlando, FL. They had 3 presentations together. The 3 presentations were:
The Keynote: CHAOS Chronicles, focusing on failures and possible improvements in IT projects. In this keynote Jim Johnson and Hans Mulder provided a history of the creation of the CHAOS Reports and the current database. The purpose was to show the evolution of the CHAOS database from the inception in 1994 to the current state of 50,000 active projects with two major instruments: organizational profiles and project profiles. They also talked about the robust adjudication process. The main purpose of the talk was to introduce the CHAOS University System to open the CHAOS database for educational and research purposes.
Second Breakout: The Next Step of IT Project Research in Practice: The CHAOS University System. In this talk, Jim Johnson and Hans Mulder outlined the new CHAOS University System, which is a partnership with The Standish Group, University of Antwerp, and the Antwerp Management. In this session the team demonstrated the major features and benefits of the partnership. They also presented a roadmap to the education components for master and doctorial programs. In addition, they talked about the opportunities for consulting and commercial work.
Third Breakout: The Marriage of CHAOS Research with Normalized Systems Theory. In this talk, Jim Johnson and Hans Mulder showed how to use the CHAOS Database for new technologies like Normalized Systems Theory. First, Hans defined and showed the components of Normalized Systems. Then Jim provided an overview of the CHAOS workflow and adjunction process. Both Jim and Hans talked about working with the CHAOS University System to find new discoveries.
